Russell Hooper

I began my career as a registered electrician, gaining essential technical skills and a passion for the electrical industry. Over 20 years ago, I joined the electrical wholesale industry in Rotorua, which marked the start of my journey with Corys. I embraced diverse roles, tackled industrial and commercial projects, and expanded my skill set. 
My journey peaked when I moved to Auckland to manage Corys' National Contracts division, showcasing my leadership and strategic thinking. Recently, I became the GMf Infrastructure and Contracts, aligning with my passion for customer service and leading a dedicated team. 
This role allows me to enhance Corys' infrastructure capabilities and contribute to New Zealand's growth. My career at Corys has been an incredible adventure, and I look forward to continuing to shape the company's future and serve our valued customers.

With 29 years of industry experience, I began my career as a storeman at MasterTrade, advancing to Electrical Manager and later expanding into plumbing. After 16 years at MasterTrade, I became Branch Manager for Corys Whangarei and Kerikeri, where I spent four years specializing in supplying materials for infrastructure clients and projects, further honing my expertise. 
I later joined the Corys’ National Infrastructure team, focusing on major infrastructure projects and working closely with power utilities customers. Throughout my career, I have contributed to numerous large-scale civil infrastructure projects across New Zealand, offering technical support and solutions that help clients select the best products for their needs. My in-depth knowledge of industry standards ensures the highest quality outcomes for every project.


I started my career as a warehouse person with an electronics component company in Christchurch. This gave me the perfect background to move up into sales travelling the Lower South Island. 
My family and I relocated to Auckland and my career flourished with national senior sales management roles in telecommunications, data, cabling, AV and RF distribution businesses.
I am excited to be working for Corys as National BDM for Telecomms, supporting the national Infrastructure team. I look forward to working closely with Cory's customers, branches and suppliers to grow the Telco and Data portfolio.
 


After a number of years on the tools as a qualified electrician working on a number of large commercial and industrial projects, I then entered the electrical wholesale industry both as a sales rep and branch manager where I developed several skills including providing the best service possible and a deep understanding of what’s important to electrical customers and contractors.
After 10+years of electrical wholesale sales and branch management I began my career in the Electrical supply industry running a dedicated E.S.I branch for over 15 years developing a keen interest in all aspects of O.H and U.G electrical distribution, contract management, providing solutions and adding value to the everyday challenges within the industry.

I joined Corys (MasterTrade back then) in 2003 as a store person, and I didn’t really have any idea where that decision would take me. In 2005 that I got my first experience with the Utilities business and immediately felt a passion for this industry.
During my 20+ years with Corys, I have held roles in the Wholesale and Utilities divisions, from stores to counter sales to branch management.
In 2018, I jumped at the opportunity to return to the Utilities business and recently moved into a Business Development role where I can apply my knowledge and contact-base to help build the Corys Infrastructure offering in the lower North Island. 
I am really proud to be a part of this small but dedicated team, providing high quality service to an important part of New Zealand’s growth.


I began my career as an apprentice electrician, which was a valuable experience as I gained technical knowledge and an understanding of the industry. From this I have worked in few closely related industries and have a diverse experience covering import/ supply wholesale and installation.  
For the last decade I have worked for Corys and have had several key responsibilities where I have further sharpened my skills and knowledge in the industry. I have a passion for doing things right and on time.


I started my career as a Northern Regional Admin in the Health Sector - gaining a deep understanding of the importance of accurately kept data, customer care, problem solving and coordinating on a national level. 
I started at Corys in 2017 as the National Contract Admin and have since moved into the Infrastructure Contracts Coordinator role, focusing on key National Infrastructure Customers. 
During this time, I have found that my passion for customer service and problem solving has flourished and I have gained years of experience working with our branches, customers and suppliers to ensure clear communication and outcomes. 
I am excited to be working alongside the Infrastructure team and branches to support and grow Cory’s presence in the infrastructure sector and provide the best quality customer service to our valued customers.
